LesFoilZ (FZ): Hi Armin, Of course, your interview has interested many ... and many questions are asked. Maybe you can tell us why choosing to produce small size speeds before
other kites? (You may also tell us if there will be smaller sizes)
Armin Harich (AH): SPEED4 8.0 and 10.0 is now out of the Market. We will not make a smaller size, as it is too difficult to produce them to pass our quality control right now. Bigger sizes of SPEED4 will follow next year. It is very difficult to improve the big SPEED and we will only release it when we have fully reached our goal. That takes time.
FZ: Are you targeting the freestyle market? Bigger sizes seem to work very well for freestyling.
AH: Yes. The new small Speeds are improved for freestyle. Dylan van der Meij love them for his wake and freestyle. For waveriding, we offer very short depower travel, which is very nice.
FZ: Was the design challenging?
AH: That was a big challenge. First of all, I always want to make big steps with new Products. To make all this perfect into a round product is a big challenge alone already. To change from A,B, C and Breakline Levels to only A, B and Breaklines was a big challenge in itself. To make things more simple by taking something away and still to make it working better than before is a big challenge as well. I love challenges. But that was not easy at all. But we made it working without any disadvantage. To reduce backstall and stability without the Jetflap recquired also a decent amount of work.
FZ: What's next? (but you don't need to answer this one)
AH: First i am finishing the bigger SPEEDs and than i will go on with my Skycarver project which was on hold the last year.
Thanks.
FZ: Thanks again Armin for this follow-up interview!
